During the Presidential campaign, Trump spent a great deal of time calling Hillary Clinton a national security risk, often saying he would have her arrested.
If you’ve been paying attention to the news over the last few weeks, you know that Trump plays fast and loose with security (and the truth). But what he did last Saturday is shocking, to say the least.
Trump’s Not So Secure Meeting at Mar-a-Lago
Trump was wining and dining Japenese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the terrace of his Mar-a-Lago Club when they learned that North Korea had launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan.
Instead of going to a secure room for a briefing and discussion, Trump requested that his aides whip out cell phones, laptops, and paperwork right at the table. Surrounded by other diners, Trump and Abe discussed the joint US-Japan response to the North Korean missile launch.
Let that sink in: diners, wait staff – and potentially our Nation’s enemies – were able to listen in on that National Security meeting.
And that’s not all: diners took photos and video of the discussion. One particularly brazen club member posted a selfie with the Presidental Aide (“Rick”) who carried the case containing our nuclear launch codes.
As a reminder, memberships at the Mar-a-Lago Club cost $200,000 a year – which our enemies will consider a bargain for direct access to our National Security activities.
